Faithful Servants

Partnerships with spiritual leaders in both Alaska and in the Lower 48 have been key to our impact of the Gospel throughout Alaska. In July, two such women who fought the good fight of faith finished their races well, entering eternity with their Savior.
Dorcas Bloom was an Alaska Native leader who loved Jesus and longed to see her people live for Him through transformed lives. Dorcas shared her heart for her people and a love of her culture. Her deep understanding of the cultural needs and historical traumas, played a key role in opening doors for the gospel to be shared in villages throughout rural Alaska.

"She was a teacher of the finest kind who taught me so much about Alaska Native peoples and culture. Her spirit was infectious and her heart was kind. She was able to look beyond the pain of the past to see what God has for the future. My life is so blessed for having known her," said Scott Jenkins, board member of Alaska Missions.

Sandy Isbell was another faithful servant whose legacy reaches Alaska from her home in Texas. A long-time supporter of Alaska Missions, Sandy loved our work here and shared our story faithfully in the Lower 48 to the glory of God. She also impacted countless athletes and women through her years as a coach and Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader.

"She aided Alaska Missions in fundraising efforts and was an encourager to all," said Brenda Crim, executive director of Alaska Missions. She was instrumental in helping coordinate and plan fundraising dinners for AKMR in an effort to share the story of Alaska Missions.
Dorcas and Sandy have been beloved members of the Alaska Missions extended family and are greatly missed. We celebrate their lives eternal and will continue fighting the good fight as they modeled.

"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep."
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
